Honesty over optics. If an engine is a stub, it labels itself a stub. If a stage didn’t run, the report says so. GET /pipeline/integrity and per-router degraded flags exist specifically so a veteran cannot be misled into thinking they got a full forensic scan when they did not.
PII inside the trust boundary. Anything a veteran uploads is PHI: encrypted at rest, access-logged, never logged to stdout, never sent to a third-party model without explicit consent recorded by ARCHIVIST.
Self-modification with a human gate. Hypers can rewrite their own skill library — but every patch goes through WARDEN’s seven-check safety gate, then waits for human approval at LangGraph’s interrupt_before=["apply"] checkpoint.
